Affirmations are a great tool when it comes to creating changes in the way you think and in your life.

The objective is to repeat an affirmation continuously until the mind accepts it as truth. Once that happens the subconscious mind then begins to create and shape your life based on the affirmation or the new thought that you have planted in your mind.

Working with affirmations also allows you to change your thought process and the goal is to go from having a negative thought process that looks at all that is wrong to having a positive thought process, where you see all the good.

When you focus on the positive your subconscious mind creates a positive and happier life for you.

When you focus on the negative, your subconscious mind creates negative situations and so you continue to struggle.

Now if you're working with affirmations there's a good chance that they're not working as well as you'd like. You may not be seeing the changes you want, even though you continue to say the affirmations everyday.

Why aren't they working?

Affirmations won't work if they're too long and not properly focused or not directed to creating exactly what you want.

They also might not work if they're not aligned with the way you speak.

Here are examples of affirmations that won't work:

I'm open to divine intervention to grant me success in all that I desire.

I am now receiving abundance and joy in my life

By the grace of the universe I now receive all that is good for me

Why won't these affirmations work?

They're not be aligned with the way you likely speak. No one usually speaks this way. Yet people create affirmations that are not connected with the way they speak everyday. Your mind rejects this phrase and your subconscious mind might not get the message

The affirmations are too generic. They're not focused on anything particular or measurable. You should have an affirmation that is clear, specific and focuses on exactly what you want

There is no action connected to the affirmations and there are no follow up affirmations that focus on taking the right action, making the right choices and doing the right things.

I've been teaching people how to create and work with affirmations (along with other techniques) for over 20 years. I've seen amazing results by just making some subtle changes.

If you want to get a new job, create an affirmation that allows you to get a new job, that allows you to meet the people who will help you get a new job, an affirmation that allows you to do the right things to get a new job. If you wanted to get a new job then I would suggest you create affirmations like:

"I know what to do to get a new job that pays me (fill in the amount). I'm doing the right things to get a new job that pays me (fill in the amount). I'm meeting the people that will help me get a new job that pays me (fill in the amount)."

The above affirmations are simple, straight forward, directed at what you want and specific. You can also measure the success because when you get a job you'll know how much it pays you and compare it to the amount you set in your affirmation.

So if you're working with affirmations take a look at them and see if they meet the above criteria.

You also should work with no more than 3 or 4 affirmations at a time. You should also aim to refresh your affirmations every 3 or 4 months.

Track your progress. If after 3 or 4 months you're not seeing any change in your thought process and you're not making any progress with your affirmations then change them. If you are, then keep working with them.

By working with the right affirmations you create a powerful positive thinking pattern that helps you succeed.

You also begin to eliminate any negative thinking patterns (they'll be replaced by the affirmations) and you could start to develop your intuition while moving closer to achieving your goals.

Now remember, saying an affirmation is working with one technique. When it comes to achieving your goals and re-directing your mind and subconscious mind there are a number of techniques that you should be applying in order to get the best results.

Working with one technique is like driving a car in first gear… you'll get there eventually but it will take a long time and it will be a bumpy ride. You should work with all the techniques that unlock the power of your subconscious mind.

When you unlock that power you become more optimistic and confident, you begin to enjoy success and you could be enjoying your life a lot more, simply because you'll be getting more of what you want.
